I love fall activities so much! Almost as much as summer! Mostly because it is super simple to integrate outdoor activities with indoor activities in fall! Unlike Winter, where the weather is hit or miss, and always chilly. I noticed fall season brought out more independence in our toddler learners & I couldn’t be more proud of them!
As I’m sure you’ve heard 1,00000 times as childcare professionals , Toddlers are yearning for their independence! For this reason, I prefer to implement crafts that learners can complete mostly independently. Plus, of course, us providers could use a moment to wipe a table, fill out an owie report, or BREEATHEEE. Haha!
I had to separate from thinking crafts had to be perfect or perfectly match the inspiration photos you get from Pinterest & google! It’s about the process of getting to the finish & appreciating the finish for the work and not just an aesthetic.
Now we are talking true Art!
I encourage my toddlers to be themselves in their work. It’s okay if they rip a sticker, it’s okay if they stack the stickers, it’s okay to make a mistake! Parents appreciate seeing their effort & work through the finish.
And the true goal is the fine motor skill and critical thinking development. LET THEM FIGURE IT OUT unless they ask for your help. And believe me, if they need it, they will!

Stickers, mosaics, pattern-making, and making association between story, real life, and outdoor sciences were all goal focuses during fall season. I was happy with how the activities played out in the classroom.
If I could make any changes, it would probably be finding toddler-friendlier easier to peel felt stickers for the tree craft. I even had difficulty peeling and I noticed some frustration & impatience from the learners.
If you know where the BEST Easy-peel-able felt stickers are, comment below and give us all the scoop đź‘€
